Free Printable Stripey Invitations

I am losing my mind. In two days, I will be leaving the job I’ve had for four years to graduate. This is significant, because I won’t have a MacBook Pro to play around with any more (on top of all of the other things I will be missing, like my co-workers, for example).

To combat the stress of this, I did some playing in Photoshop today and designed a simple (but fun!) summer invitation set (blank invites and thank you cards, 5x7 flat)

The gorgeous font is called Sverige Script, and I will definitely be using it for just about everything I make this summer. You can access the font at www.mawns.com, or here is a direct link to dafont.com

I’m excited for this new step in my life, but also a little sad about all of the things I will be leaving behind. Oh well. Here’s to a beautiful summer!

Wednesday Things

  • Cardon Copy: This design company hi-jacks community fliers and re-designs them “OVER POWERING THEIR MESSAGE WITH A NEW VISUAL LANGUAGE.”
    They are pretty awesome.
  • How nice would it be to stay in this rainbow hotel?
  • Shorpy: If you like history, this is one of the coolest sites.

Everybody is so talented nowadays that the only people I care to honor as deserving real distinction are those who remain in obscurity.

Silhouette Masterpiece Theatre

In my quest to find the perfect inspiration for my college graduation announcements, I have come across some wonderful little companies who make absolutely stunning invitations. It makes me really and truly jealous, because my embossing skills are pretty weak compared to calligraphy flourishes.

It is making me realize that I have a lot to learn, but that’s okay by me. Maybe once I get the whole college degree thing out of the way, I’ll have more time to make pretty things.

Today I stumbled upon the Silhouette Masterpiece Theatre via Mitchell and Dent’s blog (another great company).

I think I like Wilhelm Staehle because he reminds me of Lemony Snicket, whose musings, as of late, have been making my days a lot less depressing. Which is also kind of weird, since those musings are a little bizarre.

Anyway, W.S. describes himself as a “horribly disfigured gentleman who often frightens small children.” But his artwork is quite witty, so maybe if those small children got to know him, they would end up liking him.

Check out his work here.

The Paper Kites- Featherstone

Today is a feather pillow fight kind of day.

One of the greatest attributes of social acceptance, even of popularity itself, is the ability to converse. There are two kinds of conversation: polite and real. A thoughtful person knows how to do both.
